As our dance and flow-art communities continue to expand, those interested in dance and movement have been craving more space to practice and teach. Most of the studios were booked far in advance, making rehearsals or workshops difficult to coordinate. I felt like our community needed another event space, so now we have Our Movement Studio.

Melanie MacNeil, of Asheville Hoops, teaches hoopdance in the Ouroboros every week. Her vast experience within the flow-arts community has made her a great mentor. She also teaches at the Hendersonville YMCA, entertains at children’s parties, grown up parties, and festivals where she also sells the hoops that she makes. Some of her hoops are for sale at Honeypot on Lexington Avenue, in downtown Asheville, but she often custom makes them and ships them to hoopers everywhere. Her website is http://ashevillehoops.com
Danielle Miller is a much welcomed presence in our space as well as a friend, neighbor, and founder of Royal Peasantry Design House. When she is not leading her crewe and creating clothing next door, she is working in her boutique on Lexington Ave. (or raising her children). I have been admiring her work for many years and I’m honored for every chance to collaborate with the Royal Peasantry team. http://www.royalpeasantry.com
Stephen Opper, is our Natural Movement connection and he is available by appointment. You may experience self-healing, relaxed power, and increased vitality through Stephen’s one on one training or amongst a group class. His bodywork practice is located at the Asheville Acupuncture Wellness Center but he’s available at various locations and willing to come to you. Learn more about his work visit http://www.stephenopper.com/naturalmovement/
Braun Meriwether, my partner and master woodworker, made the space what it is. I could not have brought my vision into reality without a tremendous amount of help from him. His woodwork is featured throughout the lobby and studio. It is for sale, and he also creates custom designs to suit your space. Braun can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
